INTRO TO GRASSHOPPER AND ZBRUSH V1.0

Grasshopper has a vast and comprehensive computational geometry library, that lays the platform to utilize this plugin for Rhino to create iterative algorithms. While Grasshopper is not formally structured to operate in this manner, but the presence of many plugins broadened its capabilities in that direction – Anemone, Octopus, Weaverbird, Cocoon, Culebra. This course will focus on comparing the standard Grasshopper workflow and the workflow required by those looping plugins. During the 2-day course we will introduce the participants to proper data management required when looping, develop some Generative algorithms and apply them in the architectural context.
 
ZBrush is a mesh modeling tool which easily transforms meshes like painting with a pen. Here we will learn how to manage high density and complex meshes in Zbrush as way of further texturing and mesh optimization. Students will learn the basic Zbrush user interface and its typical workflow for mesh manipulation and texturing.

REQUIRED SOFTWARE
Each Participant should provide their own computer with the following software installed. If you do not have a software, trial versions can be found on each software company’s website. We will send participants links to the required software, trials, and plug-ins for download. Please have the software installed prior to workshop start. If you have issues installing software, we may be able to help you during the workshop.

The course will take place from 10:00 to 18:00 at Aarupadai Veedu Institute of Technology – Vinayaka Nagar, Old Mahabalipuram Road,Paiyanoor, Kancheepuram, Chennai, Tamil Nadu 603104, India.
All participants who complete the workshop will receive a certificate of completion.
For attending the workshop and intensive courses there is no previous software experience required.
Participants need to bring their own laptops or workstations.

Vamsi is currently pursuing his Post Graduate Master Thesis, MAA Architecture at SAC, Frankfurt, Germany. His areas of Interest lie in eccentric utilization of Computation & real time visualization, in a post digital paradigm, convoluting Arts, science and Architectural design discourse. His first year project dealt with high resolution pixel models and big data manifestation in Architecture. He is impelled by Digital medium specificity, Gaming and concept art and VFX. He is involved in extensive research and production of advanced multi-colored 3D print fabrication of Architecture and product design. His undergraduate thesis “Commun.E.T.” was awarded as the top 5 Best Theses in South of India. He was constantly awarded numerous scholarships and accolades. Upon his under graduation from India, he presently operates from India and Germany as an Associate Architect and Design channel partner for an established Architecture practice in India designing and executing various reputed University campuses and large scale projects across the country. He has led and won many Architecture & Design competitions with various teams, professionally and academically. He is currently pursuing his work on layered multiplicities of mediums using Virtual reality, Game engine, generative systems and visual effects.
