DESCRIPTION

INTRO TO PARAMETRIC MODELLING WITH GRASSHOPPER AND RHINO V1.0 is an intensive course focused on the applications of parametric modeling and generative algorithms. The participants will be guided towards developing skills on computational design and parametric strategies which will lead to optimization through various parameters. Using an iterative plug-in, the participants will be introduced to basic generative design

 
DETAILS

The three-day intensive course will introduce participants to the basics of Grasshopper and Generative Design, explaining fundamental geometry concepts and exploring different design options through parametrically defined models. Using Rhinoceros, as a base environment, the basic parameters will be set. In Grasshopper, we will explore simple examples of parametric design. Students with zero to none experience will be able to understand algorithm-based methodology and manipulate it into various kind of designs. The last day students will be introduced to Anemone – a plugin for Grasshopper which will allow them to use iterative systems in their design. They will also learn the essentials of Keyshot rendering in order to create relevant preview for their design.

 
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN 
  • Introduction to Rhinoceros and Grasshopper for parametric modeling.
  • Introduction to different plugins for Grasshopper – Weaverbird, LunchBox, Pufferfish, Mesh+, MeshTools, Anemone, Exoskeleton.
  • Luxion Keyshot 7 renderings.
 
REQUIRED SOFTWARE
Each Participant should provide their own computer with the following software installed. If you do not have a software, trial versions can be found on each software company’s website. We will send participants links to the required software, trials, and plug-ins for download. Please have the software installed prior to workshop start. If you have issues installing software, we may be able to help you during the workshop.

LOGISTICS

INTRO TO PARAMETRIC MODELLING WITH GRASSHOPPER AND RHINO V1.0 will expand from 22 to 24 March, 2019.
Daily meetings will take place from 10:00 to 18:00 at the Union of the Architects in Bulgaria, Krakra 11 str., Sofia.
All participants who complete the intensive course will receive a certificate of completion.
For attending the intensive course there is no previous software experience required.
Participants need to bring their own laptops or workstations.
Please note that places are very limited on a first pay first serve basis!

Zlatko is currently working as a researcher and a teacher at the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy, Sofia, where he has completed his master’s degree in Architecture. He is also tackling the construction process by working as a technical advisor. He has been a tutor for Rhino and Grasshopper for the past three years. He has substantial experience with digital fabrication (Laser Cutters and 3D printers). He has participated and won multiple competitions and his projects are focused on exploring the computational design methods and the ways of optimizing workflow and workload automation. His interests involve kinetic structures, creating active environments and data analysis and construction technologies. His passion is finding real-life material solutions for ideas and abstract concepts.

Tung has been participating in various competitions, gaining different award. Currently, going into his third year at the University of architecture, civil engineering and geodesy. He has been involved with parametric and generative design since his first year. Some of his projects consist of linear, iterative systems and physical simulations. He is interested in finding different design workflow and optimizing old one. He has participated in Informative Archetypes V1.0 and Vertical Variables V2.0 and was an assistant in the UACEG exchange students of Gujarat Technological University workshop, Exchange Edu V1.0.
